Golden nail tips

June 9, 2012 By Katie

So last night’s trip to Kroger for toilet paper turned into a sweet clearance find :)

Being that I’m not a huge gold fan as far as jewelry goes, I saw this color & thought hmm I could totally work with this! It’s a light gold which I can handle..

All I did was paint the tips gold and went over my entire nail with a clear coat twice. I personally think it turned out beautiful!

The polish was on sale for two bucks! Can’t beat that..

PS: it looks gorgeous in the sun!

It’s Sally Hansen, hard as nails Xtreme wear, Golden-I (485) paired with Invisible (100).

Going canoeing this summer?

June 2, 2012 By Katie

It’s Saturday & today me and my girlfriend are going canoeing to help celebrate my 28th birthday! My true birthday is not until next week but I figured why not start early 😉 we have had this planned for a couple weeks now and I have been trying to figure out “how am I going to bring my phone cigarets etc?”

I have had some bad experiences with tipping a canoe and losing my phone to the river several times.

I think it’s safe to say my phone is my life!! I have used all those other “water proof” plastic containers and NEVER had any luck..j/s

Ever heard of a Mason Jar?

I use them for EVERYTHING. A few examples are: candle holders, piggy banks, coffee, lemonade, vases, toothbrush holder..& so as you can see I always have Mason Jars around.

This in mind, I put some loose change in a jar, put the lid on as tight as it’ll go and set it in a sink full of water over night. I woke up this morning and wasn’t surprised at all, the change was dry as a bone!! (I heart my Mason Jars)

I like to think of myself being a “border line” smoker. I only have cigarets when I’m drinking, so those were a must for today. As well as my phone and a disposable camera. All of which fit perfectly inside a Wide Mouth Mason Jar.

So there you have it. Want to keep your things dry while canoeing? I know I do.

Turning Old Lingerie Into Scarves

May 21, 2012 By Katie

Yes, I mean your old Victoria’s Secret nighties or robes.victorias secret

Over the weekend, I was going thru my basket full of old nighties thinking it’s probably time to discard the ones I haven’t used in 7 plus years so I can start making room for new ones…that fit!

Upon going thru my basket I was thinking to myself, “this one is so cute why haven’t I worn it in so long?” So I put a few aside thinking I’ll try them on before I say goodbye; that way I know for sure I won’t regret giving them up, because I have a tendency of keeping things in thinking, “I used to look good in it, therefore I will again”…(laughing out loud). Just like those size 4 jeans hanging in my closet I know I’ll never get past my badonkadonk EVER again!

Immediately after trying them on I regretted my decision to care why I hadn’t put them on in so long…One was ripped up the side and another had a button missing, and one looked like it could fit my 5 year old.  So me being me, I thought I can totally use this fabric for something else. It was such a pretty pattern to just trash so I started cutting to put into my collection of fabric.

After all was said and done, I saw potential out of this piece

I used it as a head scarf in these pix but have also used it as a neck scarf using the European Loop. Needless to say, this turned out to be a very fun and easy craft project.
