Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend, I had a few bump’s in the road but overall had a blast at the Zoo with my family on Saturday. All thanks to my awesome husband who knows just how to cheer me up 😉
That being said after a long weekend of trying to stay busy, I had to make up A LOT of cleaning. I ALWAYS start with my kitchen. I ‘m not sure if anyone else does but I have to have a clean kitchen. My children are always hungry! So if I do not stay on top of it, it can get pretty bad.
Friends, I hate to admit it but most of my meals during the week come from the microwave, IE: chicken nuggets, ramen noodles, mac and cheese etc. Leaving my poor microwave a crusty mess.
I would say about 5 years ago I came across an article in a Better Homes magazine on how to get your microwave clean using around the house items. So here we go..
First, you’ll need some lemons: I always have lemons, I use them for decoration.
Second, you’ll need a microwave-safe bowl and some water.
Next step: cut your lemon in half and squeeze the juice in your bowl full of water, putting the two lemon half’s in the water. This tip is used for the fresh lemon scent you’ll get after you’re done cleaning your microwave!
Then you will place your bowl in your dirty microwave turning it on for ten minutes. Finish any dishes or sweeping you may have during your ten minutes.
After your ten minutes are up, do not open the microwave door. Let your concoction sit in their a few minutes to let the steam break all that crusty stuff up.
Lastly, take the bowl out (it will be super hot so use an oven mitt) and wipe down with a semi hot towel. This should be REALLY easy for you after letting the bowl sit in your microwave before wiping down.
There you have it; my cheep cleaning tip for the day.
